Instructions for compressing images without losing quality with FileMDF
19/05/2026•5 minutes reading
Maintaining image quality while optimizing capacity is always a headache for Webmasters (website administrators) and Designers. FileMDF offers a completely free and safe Image Compressor solution.
1. Why compress images?
- SEO and Page Loading Speed: Large images slow down page loading speed, causing high bounce rates and directly affecting rankings on Google.
- Save Storage Space & Bandwidth: Server bandwidth is expensive. Reducing photo size means you retain more of your costs.
2. Modern compression algorithms
Instead of uploading files to a server (which poses a privacy risk), FileMDF uses technologies built directly into your browser (client-side) to process images. We use the modern WebP standard as default. WebP makes files on average 30% smaller than JPEG, and much smaller than PNG.
3. How to effectively compress images at FileMDF
- Access the Image Compression tool.
- Drag and drop one or more of your image files into the upload area.
- Adjust the Quality slider. In most cases, keeping the slider at 80% provides the perfect balance between capacity and quality.
- Click Compress Image and wait a few seconds! You can download individual files or download the entire compressed zip file at once.
Note: Compression is performed locally. No data is transmitted to our servers.
